Incoming Public Finance Analyst

Hi everyone! I am going to begin as a Public Finance analyst at a BB and am curious to understand what skills are most important particularly from a modelling standpoint.

Public Finance is a little different and I know I won't be doing traditional LBO or 3-statement models. Going in what do I need to brush up on? I'm told basic excel skills and an understanding of Munis are are a must but what else? I've got about a month till I begin.

Appreciate the help!

Definitely focus on getting super comfortable with muni math, Excel shortcuts, and reading bond docs. Also, just pay attention to market trends and how deals in public finance are structured—it’ll save you a ton of time once you start.
