Internal Mobility GS
Anyone who's used internal mobility at GS? Or know of someone who's familiar with it? What's the scope of it and the extent you can jump around, and how does the process work when it comes to networking etc.

assumign u want to go into ib- sa->ft is very hard, tons of competition, better if you're in a related FO field already.
it gets much better after 1.5-2 years where you able to apply and interview for internal mobility, although you would start as an1
Yeah I know that campus hires need to stay for 18 months before looking at Internal Mobility, just wondering if starting as a FT analyst is added pressure to perform
GS mobility exists, but it's harder than they make it sound.
Family Office isn't terrible but moving to front office from there is tough. They usually hire externally for the good spots.
That said, people do make jumps - just takes longer and more politics than you'd hope. Network early, perform well, hope your MD likes you.
Not impossible, just don't bank on it.
Thanks for the insight, would family office not also be considered front office since it's client focused?
Family Office is front office technically but it's not "front office" in the way people usually mean it.
You're client-facing but you're not generating revenue like S&T or IBD. More like a service provider to ultra-rich families.
The clients aren't even really paying you - it's their family office or trust that cuts the checks. You're dealing with wealth advisors and family office staff more than the actual billionaires.
When people say "front office" they usually mean revenue-generating roles. Family Office is more middle office that happens to sit with clients.
Decent gig but different exit ops than traditional front office. Hope I make sense here.
Yeah makes sense, thanks for a detailed explanation
