Investment Banking Technicals
I have a first round tomorrow that I legit just got notified about today. Anyone have any advice for the technicals like are there certain questions that typically always get asked. I have one day to try to memorize as many technicals I can, please help!
What kind of role is it and what level (IB SA)?
IB SA for NYC
Though I may be far off, just to get something started here my guess it might be sometime like walk me through a dcf, maybe other valuation methodologies, describe 3 financial statements and how they link, how does 10 dollars of depreciation flow through the statements, what does an investment bank do, maybe things of that sort though every bank is different and every interview is different
Yeah these are good to start off, would recommend getting a Vault guide or something similar and memorizing the quick ones. Technicals do try to get at your conceptual understanding though - how much do you know already?
Also what else do you know about the interview process? Typically in a first round most candidates will be able to pass the technicals, and the differentiating factor are the behavriourals. The most important question in the interview will be the "Tell me about yourself/Why IB/Why this role + firm" at the beginning, so make sure to have that down. As for the other behaviourals, just have a few good stories that tie into your resume, that you can use to improv a question. Also have all the details of your resume down.
