is it true that banks sponsor Phd programs?
a while ago i asked a question about if it was worth it to to work in banking for a couple of years and then go do a phd in finance, one answer that i found interesting was saying that joining a phd sponsored program from my firm is the best way to get a phd while staying at the firm/slash the real world of finance. is this true and are these opportunities actually present?
I looked into good PhD programs a while ago, the best ones were sponsored by the school itself. There may be company co-sponsored PhDs, but I couldn't find any. That is actually a digital feature worth exploring, whether there is a search engine for these specialized programs...
i think the company sponsored phd programs are for people inside the company so I think its very hard for outsiders to gain info on open positions but idk im waiting for some insight
It would be very, very difficult for a full-time employee to pull finance hours, have a personal life, and then also do a PhD on top of that.
Not saying this doesn't exist, I have seen corporate PhDs in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. But those were mostly engineering PhDs and the companies were OEMs and the corporate hours were reduced by the company.
