Yes - Power & Utilities and Oil & Gas (Energy) are very different things. Groups like GS NatRes encompasses both but the NY team does power and Houston team does energy (generally speaking)

Most Helpful

Energy usually means you cover clients working to extract, transport, and refine the inputs for the energy we use at home. This captures oil & gas, upstream (exploration and production), midstream ( transportation and storage), downstream, A&D etc.

Power usually means you cover clients working to convert those inputs into the output of electricity and then sell it and or transport it to where it will be utilized. This captures regulated utilities and unregulated power or renewables companies (developers, independent power producers).

Both groups also tend to cover private equity funds or strategies that specialize in their respective niche areas.
