You are asking a very broad question that is based on personal preferences. Some people may view a good social life as joining a popular frat in the south and going to college football game days on saturdays whilst others may view a good social life as having the ability to become close to professors due to a smaller class size and exploring the nature with friends in maine. It comes down to what you want out of your 4 years and the type of things you personally enjoy.

With that being said , notre dame is obviously known for being more religious ( i think more than 60% of students are catholic, can't confirm that ) and conservative than majority of other universities. Despite that they still have college football and i would assume that not taking part in mass or church will not have any effect in regards to making friends and networking with alumni.

Funniest

Social life broadly to me means: groups of people living out together, often drinking beer or playing sports, with many options for cool bars or house parties. The majority of people at the Uni should ideally be attractive.

Notre Dame is NOT this. Everyone lives in Residence Halls. South Bend is not a fun town. It is the third most attractive student body in the state of INDIANA.

As someone from the midwest who has visited friends at most of the schools in Indiana, I would disagree with the last sentence. Of the four "relevant" campuses (IU, Purdue, ND, and Butler), ND is the the fourth.
