IB is basically jail. So what you are asking is would I rather an average of c.$250k for 5 years vs $2M. Easy choice.
Time value of money doesn’t exist. But yes go to jail
Sure, as long as I’m still somewhat employable after
Yea I would do it. I would be mid 20s with 10 milly. World is yours

I like this question. After discounting the $10M using whatever return rate you think is most probable for you, you'd need to put a dollar amount on each opportunity cost. How much do you value good tasting food? Spending time with women? Spending time with friends / family? Watching shit on Netflix? After that, think of how much the suffering and shame that your family would go through and put a dollar value on that. I dont know whatever
Depends on where. While $10MM is a huge number, different prisons can mean different things. And anything over 1 year means prison, not jail.
My dad has served in law enforcement my entire life so I’ve seen the insides of these places, it’s insanity. If it’s “Club Fed”, yeah maybe. That’s pretty interesting. If it’s one of those prisons in CA that are more notorious, no way.
The movie “Shot Caller” is a really good movie, can’t fully comment on the accuracy but it’s supposed to be pretty realistic for a movie. Watch that and see if you’d be willing to experience that for $10MM
Based Shot Caller reference
Love that movie
Personally I wouldn’t give up 5 years of my 20s for a PV of ~7M. The utility of the former is higher for the memories, life satisfaction, etc. If you’re someone that’s gonna make money the money will come regardless and people forget that it’s actually pretty easy to lose money. The personal growth / character / experiences you develop in your 20s are much more valuable.
Right now, no. Back when I graduated from University? Probably yes. Obviously the devil is in the details -- are you associated with a violent crime for the rest of your life, or do you just need to hang out in jail for 5 years and everyone knows you got paid to do it? It's a bit more of a tricky situation if you need to suffer from that kind of reputational damage for the rest of your life.
