Jefferies FIG

Anyone have any insight in the FIG group at Jefferies? Incoming NY SA 2022 interested in the FIG group and FIG in general (interned at FIG boutique last year), and definitely want to learn a bit more about the group before hopefully getting the opportunity to rotate through the group this summer.

Used to be a pretty small group, but went on a hiring spree and poached a lot of very solid seniors from CS, JPM, and Barclays, primarily focusing on insurance, AM, and depositories. The moves have definitely paid off, with deal flow picking up quite a lot since late 2021. Jefferies were also recently sell-side advisors on the $60b HDFC deal, largest bank deal since the GFC. Culturally, it's been really sweaty. The group has been hiring junior laterals like crazy to keep up with the expanded senior headcount and deal flow, but junior team is still relatively understaffed.

Considering you have background and an interest in FIG and how fast the group has been expanding its analyst classes, if you pref FIG for FT you'll probably get it. Overall definitely a solid group with an optimistic future.
