Jefferies New York Tech

Any feedback on the technology group in particular? From what I can gather Jefferies as a whole get a rep of being a sweatshop but curious if that's true / applies to the tech group.

Culture, hours, comp, prestige, etc. all very much appreciated!

Very sweaty and heavy deal flow. Both SF & NY have worked on some solid deals recently, SF primarily having worked on a few key sponsor and SPAC deals for TB, Francisco. NY focuses more on fintech and tech enabled services with CLT while SF does more pure play software, hardware, internet, advanced mobility.

Deal flow: SF = NY. You will get good experience from either office.

Exits: SF > NY. For the SF analysts who did on-cycle recruiting this year, they get some very solid interviews, several MF interviews and UMM exits.

Heading to Jefferies NY next summer and definitely interested in learning more about the NY Tech group. I'm not super well-versed in terms of Tech, but what's the difference between software, tech-enabled services, and business services, which I've heard is covered by the Industrials group?

Also, on a separate note, at the analyst level how much cross-staffing between offices is there in the Tech group?

Done with my analyst stint, but more likely for why you don’t see Jeff laterals is why? If you are at a decent enough shop lateraling doesn’t really make sense/ either you want to stay in banking at which point you’d rather be at a faster growing shop or you are using the role as a stepping stone at which point a solid mm will get you most anywhere you’d want to go.

Worked in this group (NY tech) and it sucked. Happy to talk to anyone who wants to PM.
