Toxic culture with high turnover. Deal flow seems steady though just announced Red Bluff / Bricktown sellside + currently marketing Tug Hill / XcL
What makes the culture toxic?
Place sucks
Why?
Look around you'll find plenty of examples. Changed once Jonathan Cox took over and has been pretty bad for a few years now. Had a few friends quit there pretty quickly.

It’s consensus a bad culture and Houston banking is a small world so I believe it.
Yeah I met with 4 of the O&G JPM group:Associate is really cool1st analyst quit bc he worked 8, 100 hour weeks straight2 analyst was very boring and eh3rd analyst had no personalityAlthough they're pretty bad I think Goldman Houston takes the cake on being the worst culture. During my super day I asked a guy what his hobbies were and with a blank stare he said "I forgot what hobbies were since I joined".I was like okieee blink twice if u need help my man
Houston across the board has rough culture
This place actually sucks so much, highly recommend to not join. Could not believe sub 15k bonuses for full year (yes this is front office IB)

Looks like there’s high turnover. Where do the analysts who leave before the two year stint exit?
Other banks in Houston or lateral within JPM - know some people have gone to MM IB, power & utilities, TMT, lev fin in the past couple years.
Had a friend that worked there so can confirm what above posters have said. Absolute sweatshop with nasty culture.
