Land Economy Graduate Prospects

I read through the forum's posts on Land Economy and posts on the potential to exit out of the buyside from undergrad, and I get the idea that Land Economy as a course is popular within Real Estate niches, given the focus on Real Estate in the degree. The course is actually RICS accredited so it makes sense.

But what other buyside exits are out there for graduates of the course?

I have often seen graduates at Blackstone who did Land Economy. But the problem here is that I am not sure what REIB or REPE really is, what a career looks like in this sector, and how it differs from the regular IB or PE

So my second question is why would said interns jump to a buyside firm like Blackstone immediately after graduation instead of doing 2 years in IB and then switching over once their skills are refined? Are the hours better, or is it the pay/potential of a long-term career better at Blackstone than the typical BB or EB that attracts them to joining them after graduating?

Bro you’re asking so many questions at once.

If you do Land Economy at Cambridge the door is open to general IB and PE roles. Just because it’s a real estate focused degree doesn’t mean it will pigeonhole you into real estate as an undergrad lol. It’s still Cambridge. People tend to pursue real estate from land economy because they have a head start for real estate recruiting and it’s just easier.

Not trying to come off like it's pigeonholing me in that niche, just wanted to know what else is out there on the buyside where this real estate focus is seen positively. Edited the post to add that in now.

undergrad or masters? undergrad you are completely fine for ib/pe and well positioned for niches like obv real estate but also infra etc. i have no colour for the masters program but am honestly curious as to placement
