Laptop dilemma - IB internship

I have a bit of an issue. My mac from 2015 broke down and I need a new laptop. I was initially thinking of just buying a newer mac because I've always been a mac user but I know windows is probably gonna be a much better buy (cheaper and more useful for IB and my finance classes next semester)

I was wondering what you all recommended, and what's the best windows laptop to buy that is easy to use (especially for someone who used mac all their lives) and long lasting

I have an older model (Carbon 6) and the speakers and webcam aren't as great as the Macbook, tbh. They should be better with the newer models though. They're great personal devices and are super reliable and durable. Check the Lenovo website every couple days as they always have sales for the older X1s.Maybe wait til Black Friday if you can! Good luck

My two cents, buy the new Dell XPS 15/17. Just watch some reviews on Youtube as they speak for themselves (Linus Tech Tips).

Lenovo T490 is my go to; have it as my personal and for work; I maxed out my personal to 48G memory

Used to have a Surface Pro; I babied it and that piece of shit broke after 1.5 years and never turned back on

Done alot of research on this - huge tech nerd and starting IB as a SA next year - needed an upgrade from my mac as they switch to ARM chips next year and drop the price, resale next year is trash so as a personal-good-job-you-did-it-gift for my SA role and as a financial decision I would just buy a new laptop.

Mac's have insane build quality and wanted something similar - went with the XPS 15 though really thought about the 13 coming from a MacBook air 2018.... lots of power with a 10gen i7, a good enough GPU to power a few additional monitors and do some light gaming when time permits. From every review I've watched the build quality is the best out there. Can be a little on the heavier side at 4+lbs for the 15' model but smaller physical size due to the removed bottom bezel on the screen (more dense basically). Way better thermals then a mac too - my air would overheat with just a Teams call running and couldn't have that if I wanted excel sheets, additional monitors, etc. and from what I can tell, the new vapor chamber on the 15/17 XPS models should do the trick for that.

Oh yeah - and make sure you have at least 16g of ram - you can always upgrade later lol
