Laptop Recs for IB
I currently have a MacBook Pro, but I am looking to replace it with a Windows laptop mainly for finance work, Excel, modeling, and general workflow.
I am looking for something that feels as close to a MacBook as possible in terms of build quality, speed, trackpad, screen, battery life, and overall smoothness. The main thing that has kept me away from Windows laptops is that many of them tend to feel slow or sluggish compared to a MacBook.
Right now, I am considering the new Dell XPS 14, but I wanted to ask for suggestions before buying.

Thinkpad
I hate thinkpads, plus when I begin full-time I will very likely be given one anyway.
lenovo thinkpad.
Why a thinkpad specifically? Or is just because of price?
its cheap, full size keyboard, efficient. have large models too. if u double ur budget and buy like a flagship model from asus or something, it honestly doesnt even affect performance
Framework Pro is the closest build quality to a MacBook for a windows I have seen although it’s geared for people who like to build their own computers. Otherwise Thinkpad is everyone’s standard
frameworks are good but they have shitty battery life
peak frameworks
if you want someting close to a mac look into 'ultrabooks' which will be the thinnest but also high performing line of a laptop brand
for thinkpads that will be the x1 carbon (i got issued this at work and it's really nice)
dell has their xps line
etc.
If your company uses a remote desktop, I’d definitely get something with a decent amount of RAM.
no windows laptops feel like a macbook pro, just get a cheap windows desktop on amazon if you need to practice excel at home not on a work laptop, but id stick with a macbook for a personal computer lol
Just make sure you get a larger one. Small screen plus no PgUp/PgDn keys will make you never want to open it.
The new Dell XPS’s are great. They’re ARM chips so the battery life is amazing, great screen, and they got rid of the stupid capacitive F-key buttons in the top row. Just make sure you get the latest generation (prev generations have capacitive buttons).
anything above a typewriter is overkill, kids these days are too softened. that is what we used when we merged the Nash-Kelvinator Corporation with the Hudson Motor Company
