Leaving an internship early for a better role

I've been interning at an MM bank for a few weeks now. But I have an interview invite with a BB for an off-cycle role which will most likely start during my internship with my current place.

Is it worth me continuing with the interview for the BB with the risk that my firm may find out and if I do end up with an offer, is it worth me leaving the internship early (it's also an OC) and essentially burning any bridges with my current firm.

Appreciate any suggestions or insights.

No I’m from Europe and both roles are here. It’s definitely more related to my plans and what I want to do than my current place

I think do your best to do the superday while being discrete about it, I think based on what you’ve said you’d want to go for the BB and with a superday have a decent chance at an offer

To your first question about risking your firm finding out – It's pretty common to network / recruit for lateral FT offers during the end of a summer IB internship, I don't think it would be any different to recruit for an immediate-start FT role. People interviewing you will know that you are in the middle of an internship with a pending FT offer at the end. It does introduce some risk that the news somehow gets back to your current employer, but interviewers should know to be sensitive about the process. During the last two weeks of my BB internship, before receiving a return offer, I took 3-4 interviews with another bank, and it went without saying that they shouldn't announce my interviews to the world. Still, proceed at your own risk.

To your second question, worry about getting an offer first and worry about the logistics later. You shouldn't stress yourself out at this point in the process about whether or not to end your internship early. Sure, if you have an offer in hand, and know that this BB is where you want to be... then consider leaving your current internship 2 weeks early. Make an excuse, tell them the truth, try to push off FT start date...either way it won't matter years down the road.
