Leveraging nepotism?

After graduating from a semi target, I decided to spend two years at a decent M&A group and now I’ve left the firm after my second bonus this week. My dad is a C suite exec for a large size public company and I have the ability to leverage his network to get in either at his company or an adjacent one. I’m not sure how down this is looked upon but I just felt this path would be an easier rise than playing the IB/PE game and it’s nice already having an advisor/connections thru my dads experience. Curious to hear what you all would do, if this seems like a reasonable path

I would say keep on w ib/pe if you're dad is going to be at the company for a while, you can choose to leverage this in the future while building more experience now, this way you can get back into ib/pe after if this you don't like the role

Won't be long before we see "Leveraging Offer."

"Hey WSO, after graduating from a semi target, I decided to spend two years at a decent M&A group and now I’ve just received an email from HR saying I was accepted to work at a top BB (think GS/MS/JPM) as an AN1 in M&A, and I was wondering how I can leverage this to get an AN1 M&A role at the that BB. I was thinking about using my offer to network with bankers in the that BB's M&A group, but I’m not sure how down this is looked upon but I just felt this path would be an easier rise than playing the no-networking grind to get a job at the BB and it’s nice already having a connections thru my offer. Curious to hear what you all would do, if this seems like a reasonable path."

Yes, people will look down on you for getting your foot in the door through nepotism....that's the very small price of nepotism.

If that bothers you, just send your resume out and network like the rest of us.
