lincoln (chicago) vs harris williams (minneapolis)
Mostly interested in comp and exits. Does either firm have an advantage when it comes to mm pe exits. Mostly interested in staying in the midwest and having trouble finding good data for lincoln exits. Also comp likely to be the same at both firms for a1-a3?
Have heard hw pays well from friends (larger signing bonus) but no clue whether end of year bonuses are above Lincoln

Can you expand on why? I’ve seen a few analysts go to hig and one from audax this past year. Given that the only pe funds in the Midwest outside of the lmm/mm are mdp, gtcr, and bdt, why would exits be nonexistent
So HW prides itself for its placements in MM PE firms. Idk how the Minneapolis office does but I think it does ok. Idk much about Lincoln though
I assume exits to MM PE are better at HW. I have no real data points and don’t know anything about the Minneapolis office but this site is full of people saying HW bankers will help their analysts place into PE so take that however you want. Personally would probably make the decision on which city you would prefer to live in or is closer to family etc. but that’s just me
You'll get interviews at MM PE from either shop. Decide based on which group of people you'd prefer to spend 100 hours a week with for the next two years.
do you have any insight to a2a culture at either, i.e. is it encouraged, what percent of the class chooses a2a over pe? Did some research on HW and saw that almost no analysts go a2a.
Lincoln loves to covert a2a if that is a route of interest.
Yeah, the WLB is definitely much better than most banks, but I think the culture is the bigger selling point. There has been some discussion of it elsewhere on here, but Lincoln actually cares about their analysts and doesn't just want to kill them. Know they have at least a handful of MDs that started as analysts, and they are very focused on retaining talent.

HW MN has a great culture - have met with current bankers and alum from that office and they are very personable. Unsure on everything else but they seem to place where they want to go
I’m pretty sure that HW MPLS office is the satellite office for consumer and retail. Might have a few more there but don’t know for certain

I would say its probably closer to 35-45%. But nonetheless, it's very high and is supported by seniors.
