Interesting question. Can't wait to hear ppls response. But convert it to time- 30 miles could take anywhere from 20 mins on a train you're already on to 1.5 hours on a congested highway.
10% = 7K lets say 3800 after tax.
Let's add an extra 30 minutes each way to the trip so 1 hour per day, 6 work days per week, 52 weeks per year, thats 312 lost hours or $12 per hour. Not worth it.
No way.
just 10% for 30 miles of sleep :/ are you crazy
also you seemed to like your current place is that 10% worth it for a current change of environment? Ask your self what is the current infrastructure vs their infrastructure and can it help you improve your trading. Now, honestly if it was a % change in your PL then it might be worth considering ,but come on my monty 10% change in base salary to start off "new" keeping the same % PL :/
Don't make me call you up and yell at you. :)
I think its a matter of additional commute time.....if it was only 20 minutes of extra commute it might be worth it. Bulge4lyf made an excellent point that it was only $12 an hour, but I thought you would be talking about an associate or VP position, where 10% increase can add up.
As Seigniorage said, I think it depends on how those 30 miles are traveled. Is it 30 miles farther on the same train you take anyway and only 20 minutes more to your commute? Or is it 30 miles farther in the car and adds more than 20 minutes to your commute?
see my family little more in the morning and little sooner in the afternoon may be worth more then 10%
depends. my hometown is 30 miles from manhattan. would much rather work in my hometown then add the extra hour (or hour and a half with traffic). in fact, two summers ago i commuted to manhattan, and this summer, I chose to live there (for more than 10% of my pay) just so I could skip the commute. So I guess
if you are living in downtown houston and your new gig is out in clear lake or near IAH then it might not be bad driving past all the morning commuters while they are heading downtown
you hit i on the head bud
do what they tell you to do in economics DOES THE MARGINAL CLOST = MARGINAL BENEFIT ? WILL YOU GAIN THE MOST UTILS
:O
30 miles is fucking far
