M&A Intern: No live transaction experience?
I am currently doing a 3-month internship in M&A (in continental Europe). Even though I intern in the execution team of the department (as opposed to one of the sector origination teams), none of us interns are assigned to work on live deals. What this means is that most of my time is spent making pitchbooks for prospective deals, or formatting slides for IMs or other marketing materials for live deals (small, undisclosed ones).
How would you spin this experience on your resume when applying for analyst jobs at other banks? At the moment I have added "potential" to every deal I have mentioned under "Selected transaction experience", but I am not sure if this is the best approach. Is it normal to have no live transaction experience under my belt after interning for several months in M&A and how would you handle this situation?
Any advice is much appreciated!
Many thanks.
