Why would they pay summer interns the same as analysts and trainees a lower salary and no bonus? That seems awfully cheap of them...
Who told you they pay summer interns the same as analysts? I know SG don’t. Can say for SG specifically their Trainee programme is trash because they barely convert anyone just use it for essentially cheaper grads for a year.
Is it normal that I never hear back from them...applied to 4 or 5 on the day it's out but never hear back.
Not sure if you know the SG Trainee program and its reputation, but its one of the, if not the worst on the street.
You used to get paid ~£25k GBP, work sweaty hours, and not get a conversion. Horrific culture.
Heard they bumped M&A to ~45k, still criminal for the hours, but other teams such as Project Finance may not have been bumped.

That’s exactly what I wanted to confirm, I had also heard that salaries had been raised.
I have a FT offer for next year and was thinking about the trainee programme as a filler and wanted to get some more insights. Not converting wouldn’t be a problem.

To add to that since you’re an intern there are no bonuses. Not unheard of for some MM firms to pay in the 50-55 range but at least you’re getting a 40-60% bonus at the end of the year and a guaranteed job with more money for the next.

Used to be £32k up until earlier this year, they bumped it to £52k for trainees.
You're better off at SG than CACIB, better in IB.

I used to work at soc gen and was under this soc gen trainee program in nyc.
I do not recommend. Only take the program if you have no other options.
- You get paid hourly
- I only got 5 vacation days off (i did not get the same benefits as full timers)
- no bonus
- there is rarely a conversion. Many teams use the full time internes to hire people to do full-time work while keeping costs low.
- my comp was around 50k
credit agricole has a similar program andni heard they dont oay a bonus, or at max will give you 20k while you work sweatshop hours.. Soc gen does not pay bonuses to first years from what i heard.
the only french bank i recommend is bnp, there is a reason why they are doing so well.

I am currently in process with SG CIB trainee program. I wonder if there is any problem if I did not do full 12 months? e.g., after 6/7/8 months I do a full time or a better off-cycle at another better bank in London? Will there be any problem in background check for my new employer, or ask me to pay visa fees, etc. Thank you!
