Management Information Systems (MIS) for banking and the future of digital automation

Hello,

I am new to this forums, and this is my first post so forgive me for my inexperience here. I am a college student at Penn State in a bit of a predicament. I want to be in the finance industry and dream of working in IB, however with all of the recent news of analyst layoffs and the tremendous rise in AI technology I am beginning to wonder if it is more valuable to have skills in computer science to stay afloat in the future. This begs the question, is a degree in something like MIS invaluable in banking? Or useful in a potentially automated, or extremely digital, workforce? I feel like it's necessary to have skills in data management and digital frameworks, however not enough knowledge in the financial field. What do you guys think? Will finance degree grads still be as sought after as before? Or do you think recruiters will expand their horizons to applicants with more skills in tech? Opinions are more than appreciated.

Thanks.
