It highly depends. Are you in M7 or top target school? If Yes, get work experience then MBA. Non target school? Get an MSF from a m7/target school then work experience then MBA. MSF from a non top b school? For IB is probably not worth it, for anything else Idk as I am not experienced. IB is all about where you went and how prestige are you, the rest of finance might be different.

The path used to be... IB analyst years -> Top MBA -> ib associate -> VP/hf/PE etc..... however things are changing in banking with tech being so popular and paying so well. Top talent is going to tech instead of banking now a day. There are many IB analysts going straight to associate without MBA now a day so SO IMO currently MBA is more of a career booster(or career changer). So really ask yourself based on your perfomance and experience, do you need an MBA? The best thing an MBA will give you is networking and connections, depending on the school you go to it can be a huge career booster. People will tell you that their bosses all have an MBA but they started on the business when MBA was a must, things have changed. I would recommend for someone who feel like he is underperforming, need more connections and need to brighten their skills. Or need a 2 years vocation.
