MF/UMM Chances From Nontarget
With how much on cycle is pushed up each year it seems like target status is mattering more and more. I am from a nontarget flagship state school and interning with a top group at (gs tmt/ evr m&a). I am looking at mf/umm funds in preparation for on cycle but Idk if I have a chance over ivy kids. 1550+ sat, non diversity if that matters for on cycle.
bump
I’m in a similar boat as you. To be honest who gives a flying ass. When you asked this forum if it was possible when you were in college, most said no.
You make your own destiny, just trust yourself and stay hungry
Someone from my nontarget went to a MF from Evercore. A buddy of mine, same school, also from Evercore, just got into a MF too. Both had taken the GMAT during undergrad and got 720+. It's possible, but both of them told me how they felt at every step they had to justify why their nontarget.
good to hear the move is possible. Btw did you go to UF?, I have a friend there and that seems like the scene he describes
Yeah, that's why I did anonymous haha. Not many nontargets regularly have people take the GMAT and go to Evercore
You ultimately determine whether it matters or not.
1) can you get the Interview
YES
2) will it hinder you
Assuming you get the Interview it doesn’t need be the determining factor of getting the job, so sure it would be better if you went to Stanford or Harvard but not really. Ur ability to connect w the people and get along is just as if not more important so maybe try networking
