MM PE internships vs Tier 2/3 MM IB for post-junior summer?

I saw a couple of MM PE shops doing interviews on campus. Since most 2020 IB SA recruiting is done for the top banks, should juniors who wanted to do IB look at PE internships? How would a MM PE internship compare with a tier 2 or 3 MM IB internship (banks lower than Baird/BMO/Piper) for post-junior summer?

Also, I looked and sometimes it's tough to find out if they convert interns to FT since they're a lot smaller than banks. I would probably have to reach out to 2018/2019 summer interns via Linkedin.
