MS Sophomore 2025 Internship

So I applied as MS IBD Sophomore Program opened and I also applied with a referral before all my other friends did, who all didn’t apply with a referral. However, everyone who applied got a hirevue invite except me.

Does anyone have any insights on this? Another friend who also applied as the same time as me without a referral didn’t get a hirevue invite.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, it's important to note that the process and criteria for sending out HireVue invitations can vary and might not be entirely transparent. Here are a few insights and possibilities to consider:

  1. Referral Impact: While having a referral can significantly boost your application's visibility, it doesn't always guarantee an immediate or different process in the initial screening stages. The system might process referrals differently, or there might be a separate review process for referred candidates which could take more time.

  2. Automatic Invitations: Some candidates receive HireVue invitations automatically based on certain criteria being met (e.g., GPA, school prestige). If your profile didn't automatically trigger the system's criteria for an invite, it might require manual review, which can take longer.

  3. Volume of Applications: The volume of applications can also impact the timing of HireVue invitations. If there's a high volume, it might take longer for the recruiting team to review all applications, especially those with referrals which might require additional steps.

  4. Technical Issues or Oversights: There's always a possibility of technical issues or human error. Your application might have been overlooked, or there could have been an issue with the submission process.

  5. Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives: Some programs prioritize diversity and inclusion initiatives, offering early invitations to candidates from underrepresented backgrounds or those participating in specific programs.

Given these possibilities, it might be helpful to reach out to the recruiting contact or the person who referred you for clarification. They might be able to provide specific insights or check on the status of your application. Remember, the recruitment process can be unpredictable, and timelines can vary widely among candidates.
