MS Spring Week Assessment

Well I feel a little like a failure right now. I took the Morgan Stanley assessment for Spring Insight days and this is how I did:

Situational: Average

Numerical: Average

Verbal: Slightly above average

Logical/Inductive: Way above average (almost perfect)

So... from what I understand, this isn't good enough. That's ok I guess, MS is a crapshoot anyway. I just wonder what the heck I should do because these assessments are so important and I'm only doing average in the most important ones. Any advice?

I’m curious, do the test providers select a random test for you or is it the same test for all. What’s stopping people from making 2 accounts to clear the tests?

1st of all it is kind of easy to find who did it, second questions do change in a sense which can make it easy find who whas cheated (questions phreased the other way round, asking for information that may be on another test but not in yours...).

Anyways, cheating is always up to you, you know that if you get caught you can be banned from all main banks, is it worth it? Maybe, but I wouldnt risk my future when spring weeks are quite random, if it was your last shot for OC I would maybe think about it...

For MS everyone gets a different test, but it's the same format and type of questions. I did research into their testing company and no one will ever get the exact same test.

Damn it tells you your results? Yeah I think MS highly weights those assessments because I did really good on them, especially on numerical reasoning and I had an interview last week for their NYC office for IBD SA. I definitely did not deserve one if they heavily screened resumes. My Hirevue was also solid though too

You would be amazed of how bad people perform durign Hirevues, both at articulating opinions and "performing in front of the screen".

Having seen some Hirevues during last recruiting season, can tell you that this is gold to get to next steps, many great candidates get screened out as they are too artificial or cant even explain themselves

Yeah I'm a pretty articulate person, so I do really well on Hirevues for the most part. I was just surprised MS even gave me a chance. Like I def knocked the tests and the HV out of the park, but I'm nontarget and definitely don't have the crazy internships like most targets do. I didn't even network either lol. I'm just hoping I moved on to the superday.

Was in a similar case to you last year. I believe a huge focus is on the SJT, you need to be suited towards their business unit as well as smash the other tests. Good way to look at the SJT is to make sure you're always prioritising the client over your own work, as well as trying to involve everyone on your team. If you have a request from someone higher up, attend to that first before others. Practising the other tests is easy as you just need to get used to the style, whereas in a SJT you need to have the attributes that they want.
