MS vs JPM groups

Hi everyone, lucky enough to have offers/SDs at both of these firms, and wanted some insight into them and the differences between some of the groups. I would ideally want to be generalist and I know that both of these banks have generalist M&A and sponsors teams, so any information on exits/culture/WLB between them would be helpful. I know group placement is a crapshoot for the most part, but would appreciate the information regardless - thanks!

would take ms, less chance of bad group and the bottom groups exit better than the bottom jpm groups. Also upside is higher with the top groups. M&A and sponsors are also both marginally stronger from an analyst experience perspective at ms. if you wanna be a career banker go with jpm otherwise ms

First I just went through MS group placement and it most definitely is not a crap shoot. I knew 4 people in my intern class from HS/Family Friends and more and we all go to schools that are good, but not core for the bank. While it does help to have alums in the group - most people in most groups are willing to talk to you and the important thing is being sharp and likable on the phone. If you have any EQ and good social skills you'll end up in a good group.
