Networking right before the interview

Need help. Is it ok to attempt to network/reach out to people right before the interview for a SA position? Somehow I got an interview w a MM bank where I did not even end up networking with the people due to time constraints. I have about a week to attempt to reach out, but not sure if its even worth.

Will I get instantly dinged if they ask who have I spoken with at the firm / team already?

I had this happen to me and reached out to someone when I heard I got a superday. I think it was helpful as it allowed for me to add to the "why x bank". It also gave me a better insight into their culture. I think it's fine to do it, just try to get an analyst or associate on the phone (preferably an alumni) and don't ask them to connect you with anyone else. The person I spoke with also gave me some tips for what to expect in the superday. Just say in the body of your email that you have a first round or superday or whatever and you want to learn more about their experiences with the firm or something. People know that the majority of people return FT to wherever they SA so it makes sense that you'd want to learn more about the culture and stuff before committing 2+ years of your life to them.
