Networking strategies UK

Networking isn't as big over here in the UK as it is in the US.

But since I don't have an elite academic background, I need to grind as much as I can.

I've been reached out to people on Linkedin and cold emailing people introducing myself and asking questions about their firm and whether they are free to hop on a quick call.

Unfortunately all of my requests are getting ghosted, which I expected because they don't have an incentive to help me out, but still I thought I'd at least get some help from some people.

Also I've been reached out to a range of people from analysts to associates to VPs. Would a talk with analysts be beneficial from a networking since they can't exactly refer you? Obviously they can give an insight into the firm's culture and what drew them there, but they can't help much more than that.

Do you guys have any networking strategies outside of attending career events/fairs? Is there anything you specifically include in emails/linkedin invites?

Thanks.

On one of the UK trackers, there are names of contacts you are able to get in touch with and contact directly for each firm.

I would be absolutely careful though to consider that they are also students / 1st year analysts so if they don't respond, don't take it personal. They have a life of their own with responsibilities i.e. studying / working so it may be difficult to get a reply.

we get a lot of linked message, emails, phone calls even from many UK based students. many of them intl. students also who need a visa.

I don't think we can help them as sponsorships are really rare, and most of them aren't even competitive enough to work at our opcos. there is also a website with a career section where they can just apply. would make more sense, as our colleagues normally don't "network like in the US".
