No Game In College

Hi all,

Senior in a relatively social school. I interned in a top group in BB, going back FT next year. I didn't have a gf in school, since I spent all my time learning about finance. I found it hard talking to girls in college bars and parties (don't think they are interested in me), and felt like my time was running out. Do girls in college care about that I worked in IB? Is it easier when I come back to NY, especially considering I will be working 100+ hrs a week?

Hit the gym, clean up your eating. A low body fat % combined with a muscular build will increase your looks 1 or 2 points on the 10 scale. I suggest getting drunk to avoid social awkwardness with girls when out at bars and clubs. At the end of the day they just want to talk about themselves so ask them questions and compliments them.

Most guys I knew in college who have done well in banking, PE, HFs have always hit above their weight when it comes to girls. The social aspect is big as you move beyond IB analyst and even then it can help a lot. Girls are often attracted to drive, and I know a bunch of short, bald, slightly over weight dudes who have smoking hot wives. Guess what, they weren't that much better looking in college, but they always seemed to do well even before they had money. Figure that out, it's not that hard, and it translates. Showing up to a spouse invited work event with a hot wife when you are older helps a lot, assuming she can hold a normal conversation.

They ain't into the short, bald, rich, slightly overweight dudes for their "drive" dude

You could also say charisma, influence on others, or a lot of other things, but I believe that's all drive related. Drive to me isn't just how hard you work, and it relates to a lot of developing these soft skills, which become way more important as you get older. I was also talking about that for guys who looked like that in college and still crushed it.
