No Modeling Exit Opps

After finally getting the chance to build out an operating model (after 16 months on the desk lol) I am realizing this is not really for me. I really love the quantitative problem solving and data cutting type work but find limited enjoyment in building out financial models. It's not difficult but it's tedious, time consuming, and there's too much false precision involved. I am a naturally hard worker but I can't really see myself building out super complicated models just to entertain someone without any clear value-add or reward. I know VC or GE might have less complicated models so that's definitely an area of interest but I'm curious to hear about other paths as well.

Building financials is quantitative problem solving lol

I think asset management isn't too modeling-heavy. Some buy side hops too. I highly doubt hedge funds will model every small details, it's mostly about getting the high level details down and going from there. Banks like going into the weeds so they can justify a price/scenario/etc.

I think most places outside of PE and Banks won't model every small thing, just enough to understand a problem, and then decide risk vs reward vs likelihood of issue.
