Non Target -> MMIB -> MMPE -> M7

First of all, I don’t want this to sound like the majority of the “is it possible to break into XX from my situation” posts from non target kids.

I’m an IB Summer Analyst for a MM firm (think HW/Blair/Baird) and I’m hoping to go into MMPE after a couple of years as an Analyst. Coming from a non-target, and not having any family/friends in finance, it was difficult to get an offer in the first place. I’ve recently decided I want to go to a top MBA program after a couple of years in PE, and I have a good idea of what I need to do to put myself in the best position possible to get there. Obviously, I understand that I have to actually get a return offer, do well as an Analyst, and get into MMPE before all of this.

I’m wondering if anyone from a non-target has gone a similar route and has any advice?

FYI: I have a 3.9 GPA, multiple on campus clubs/organizations, relevant internships, sports, hobbies that I’m actually passionate about, and I don’t have a finance boner.

Just looking to best position myself to be successful and exploring my options. I understand the opportunity costs and I’m willing to take them. I’m not asking if this route is “possible,” just looking to hear from people with similar experiences.
