Odds of Top MBAs for Non-Targets

Hi all,

Hope everyone is doing well. As the title indicates, I am interested about top MBA programs (such as Stanford, Harvard, Wharton) for non-target undergrads.

I am a super non target from the West Coast, and will graduate with a 3.9, starting to work at a mid-tier BB in SF. Exits from my group are typically some MM/UMM, and 1-2 MF a year.

However, my freshman year in the US I was at a private school with my GPA being 2.7, transferred to community college and then back to a public state school.

Looking back now, that is a complete mess. Assuming I land a decent UMM role (hopefully) as I assume no MF will even look at me considering I am a non target (at least according to WSO people), what are my realistic odds to land these top programs after my two year associate stint?

There are a lot of kids applying to the programs from better banks/funds with better non-messy educational backgrounds, how can I even compete?

Are my hopes dead here? What can I do to improve my odds for these MBAs? Besides a strong GMAT.

Thank you to everyone who contributes
