Off-cycle internship to Full-time
Hello all,
Just got an off-cycle internship with J.P Morgan London office for IBD. This is only due to start next autumn, because according to HR everything is filled already.
I have graduated already, that means waiting 9 months for job to start. Additionally, I got interviews with PwC scheduled for their equivalent for IBD but for full-time.
Would it be worth it doing that internship at JPM, with the hopes that I might or might not get full-time. Or should I just go for the full-time offer at PwC if I do get it.

Get that second offer first, worry later. You can always start in PwC, take 3-6 months unpaid leave, and if you get JPM than just quit.
I know someone who did an off-cycle internship at JP Morgan and he was extended an offer for FT to start the very next month. Apparently, JPM has stopped recruiting FT for IBD and Markets in London outside of its summer and off cycle interns. They have been doing this for the past three years now!
Anyway, I'd do what the above poster 'tandaradei' has suggested.

Still got others lined up like Tullet Prebon, and a boutique consultancy.
I don't know if you've applied or not but Rothschild does a lot of off-cycle internships in London and Paris. The next one starts soon I guess. BNP Paribas, Calyon (CA CIB) and Soc Gen also do a lot of ad-hoc off cycle internships so thats worth checking out if you want to keep busy for the next 9 months or so.
They do, I can confirm its what they do instead of grad recruiting. Btw it's on a rolling basis - ie the autumn interns have the largest amount of slots available and spring ones the smallest.

do you mean that autumn interns have the highest spots to convert full-time? or just that they have the highest headcount for autumn intake? any advise on which groups to take on?
i actually applied for the summer intake, and am not too happy they offered me the autumn intake because the summer intake is "full".

Ok so I have a choice between a summer internship and an off-cycle. given I'm graduating I see off-cycle as a better option since I have to waste fewer months doing nothing.
But my friend suggested that off-cycles don't really convert to FTs. How true is this especially for London?

Yes, also off-cycles convert in London. Summer internships are probably the safer way though, since it might be harder for you if they had a great summer class and extended already many offers.

Went through an accelerated interview process in March and lucky enough to receive an intern offer in a BB (in london).
While the internship is a 3-month one starting in June, it's an off-cycle internship rather than SA. (it's a fixed-placement, not a rotation program)
Here comes the questions:
I keep hearing that the chance for off-cycle interns to stay is much lower than SA. Is it true in London too, but why?
Since my internship starts at the same time with the normal SA, is there any chance that I can go out; network and receive a FT offer from other group before summer ends as other SA do?(I know there are many internal or inter-bank networking events / seminars for SA, but I assume off-cycle interns are out of the door for this.)

I'm confused as to why a BB in London would put you on a 3 month off-cycle starting at the same time as their SAs... Shame you missed out on the SA networking and training.
No clue as to your chances, but you have a platform to get noticed, so make the most of it. Get networking, and land that FT regardless of whether its been done before. If you work hard enough and have the right approach you will get the job.

I have a friend who went through your same experience (3 months off-cycle starting in june) in a BB in London. He was included in every SA event that took place and he also received a full time offer at the end of the summer. So it may happen...
