Off-cycle vs Summer Internship for MSc Student (LSE)

Hi, I am an Economics & Finance undergrad at Bocconi University and I have been admitted to the MSc in Accounting & Finance 2018/2019 class at the London School of Economics and Political Science. I am thinking to accept the offer and consider pursuing my Master at LSE instead of Bocconi. Since I am interested in working in London in the M&A division, the MSc in A&F at LSE seems like one of the best option available. I was wondering whether it's worth applying for an off-cycle internship starting in January (expected grad. date at LSE is on the 14th of June 2019) or just wait and apply for a position during the Summer.

Not too sure about LSE vs. Bocconi. Of course the former is better known globally, but in Europe Bocconi is a very strong name too, it places excellently in London and if you’re Italian it might make sense to get your MSc there. Also please keep in mind that 1-year MScs are more appropriate for people with previous experience. If you don’t have any relevant internships, go for a 2-year MSc.

In both cases, go for SA since it has a higher return rate.

First of all, LSE hands down - top firms directly recruit there and it is better having two "strong" names on the CV.

On the other side, you won't be eligible for the vast majority of the Summer Internship programs, thus I warmly suggest you to apply for off-cycle where you can't apply for SA role and for SA role where you can. For the Off-cycle is often required some experience in IB or PE - I suggest to reach out some Bocconi alumni in small shops or funds around Europe and do a couple of months in PE or IB over the summer
