One to Two Years Work Exp

A lot of seemingly entry level jobs ask for one to two years of work experience. Has anyone had any luck applying to these with just a few months experience? Is there anyway to get over that hurdle? This is especially on on-line job boards.

They ask for one to two years of exp because they can w/ the online sites and they can filter out a lot of people. Thats why networking is important - so you don't have to be put in the same competition with a hundred other people, and so that people will look to you first when a new position opens up, so you don't have to compete with a hundred other people - the competition is just too great.

My experience seems to tell that they mean it. 1-2 years experience is understood in the sense that you have mastered the job and are ready to work right away. Especially in this kind of job market, the number of qualified applicants is probably more than enough already. However, you might have a specific skill set that helps you stand out above the rest (speaking a foreign language, specific technical skills ...) Good luck pal.

Nobody wants to work for it anymore. There's no honor in taking the after school job at Mickey D's. Honor's in the dollar, kid.
