Other ways of breaking in

Brief Background:

Semi-target, 3.3 gpa, part-time boutique IB internship last semester, upcoming treasury summer internship at a mutual fund, rising senior, planning on doing part-time ib internship again next semester

So I've been networking a lot with bankers because I know it's going to be hard for me to break in. I'm not a BB, EB, or bust type of guy. Would gladly take any MM offer as I think I'd eventually like to end up in growth equity or corp development.

But I realize I might not break in right out of school, and I want to start networking and strategizing to get a job that might let me break in later. Right now my list consists of Big 4 Valuation ( I have some valuation experience at the boutique I worked at), Credit Risk (not sure how to spin this one), and f500 roles. Should I also reach out to consultants? How do I go about speaking with alumni without making it seem like they are just a backup? Any other advice that you think would be beneficial is also welcome. Especially interested to hear any stories about breaking in other than the typical SA -> FT track.

Thanks!
