Process or valuation?
Pretty simple, which is more important / useful to learn? Should you panic if you are helping to run process but other analysts from coverage are getting more into nitty gritty valuation / modelling than you are? Comment from experienced monkeys appreciated.
you can teachyourself valuation - I would imagine it is much tougher to teach the process
What have you found / what is your experience? First year BB here
I think that analysts frequently get lost in the weeds. Yes, financial modeling is important, and you will be grilled on it should you look into PE or corp dev roles, but the most important thing is your overall deal experience and your ability to speak to it. You can always take some extra time to beef up your modeling skills, but it's very tough to beef up your ability to speak about a transaction if you were only involved in the modeling.
