I understand that this may not be the appropriate forum, but I am not sure where to ask about the Masters of Finance/Business Admin topics, so I figured I'd post where there is most exposure. Hopefully I can get some help. I did search and only a few, general answers came up.
I am currently a junior at a non-target. GPA is 3.25, good extra cirrcs. Econ Major/Stats Minor...(GPA is low because of Frosh year Pharmacy. If it weren't for that, I'd have a strong 3.7+) No banking experience, and I do not wish for it. Currently, I am interning at BlackRock Ops and will be doing a Finance summer internship at Lehman (cross your fingers!)
I am writing to ask about the MSF/MBA degrees, and if they're worth earning, in the long run. I understand that it "depends on what I want to do" but at this point, I have no idea. I actully want to open an arcade and life off of that cash flow by the time I am 35. Fine, 45. But assuming this never happens and I am still in the financial services industry, would a MSF/MBA give a leg up in positions in PE/IBD/Consulting. 3 completely different paths, but as of now, they are all quite interesting to me. Do you suggest Masters for those areas?
Furthermore, and this may come off completely retarded, but are these degrees attained through Business School? If so, how long do they usually last? I know some finish in 1 year, and others take 2 years part-time...which do you suggest? Also, how much does GPA affect chances of getting in a top BS? Do you recommend working first, then getting a Masters? Or just get it and hit the job field?
I apologize for the convoluted post, but I am as confused as this post. I am bascially seeking general advice regarding a Masters, and Business Schools. Thanks in advance.
