Rank these investment banking platforms

Interviewing with a few different companies right now - mostly in middle market space. Can someone please help me and rank the following IB platforms considering prestige, potential, compensation and lifestyle? Thanks.

Macquarie Capital JMP Securities Piper Jaffray FBR Capital Markets BNP Paribas Cowen & Co.

All depends on what position you are looking for. Neither is good at everything, but have groups that are reputable. And btw, if you get 10 different ranks from 10 different people, how will that help you? Don't waster your time like I just did :).

Do what you want not what you can!

location is NY. Groups in question are mainly M&A related in either Energy or Industrials. I know none are challenging for #1 on global league tables but looking for greater perspective on platform strength.

I'd stay away from JMP and Cowen at the moment, and BNP never gets their act together. Piper is strong in Healthcare. Would probably go for either FBR or Macquarie.

heyhey13did you get these interviews through OCR or cold calling/emailing?

I'm assuming, b/c I'm in the interview process at a few of these firms listed that he got them through connections or some really solid cold calling / emailing. I know OCR for the ones I'm interviewing with have yet to begin and they have a number of info. sessions to do even before resume drops, but everything is going to happen real quick in the next few weeks. Happy hunting.
