Re-Recruiting during SA Stint?

Recently accepted a 2025 SA role at a small boutique. This bank only does M&A for a single, niche industry. For example, I am almost certain I won't get any exposure to LBOs, and won't be working with the common and conventional FCF multiples.

In an effort to avoid pigeon-holing myself this early in my career, I'd like to re-recruit for when FT comes around. Obviously a return offer is a priority, but I think I'd rather start FT someplace else. If anyone can share info about their experience re-recruiting, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Re recruiting is a headache. Limited spots and shit ton of competition. You’d be better off working for 1 year or so and then look for a lateral opportunity.

Very tricky to do as your have to use your lunch breaks to network most of the time and some interns are pretty bad at hiding it. Ideally you should network before your SA and keep those connections warm for the summer.
