Reaching out to Senior Heads

Recruiting is coming up and as someone interested in finance, would it be stupid to reach out to senior (global heads, chairmen) etc via cold email?

I come from a pretty tight knit network and was just wondering if this was a smart idea to begin with…

This is just kind of a waste of time because they're not going to reply. You're not the first person to come up with this idea and these guys are not going to refer someone they don't know. Send them if you want but I wouldn't waste time on some super personalized email, literally 99.99999% chance it just gets deleted

The advice to stick with analyst/associate is because they've been in your shoes and are way more likely to reply. Someone who recruited 30+ years ago has no reason to help some rando kid

Guy above doesn't know what he's talking about. I emailed several vice-chairmen of IB and 2 out of 10 responded and gave me the interview (one of them did so two weeks after initially saying "sorry X, we're all done with recruiting." Always shoot your shot, these guys come from an era where people used to wait in the lobby to pass out their resume.
