Reasons for A Rejection after Superday

Hey guys, I am writing this post because I genuinely would like some feedback or advice. I am a student with non-business background and was very excited to interview with a BB bank. I was very prepared for the first and superday interviews. I got a superday the same day I had my first round so I guessed they liked me. But I got rejected after the Superday. I had 4 interviewers during the Superday and one of them said well done after our conversation.

I thought I did quite well on the Superday but I was not even put on the waitlist. I asked for feedback but they told me they would not provide feedback. I was just wondering if anyone can give me some advice for the future interviews and may provide some insights on what could possibly went wrong. Thank you so much.

thanks for the reply! I genuinely thought i was a good fit but prob not... cuz one of the MD said well done and i thought it went well in general.. but yea i will reflect more on what could go wrong..this was indeed a bit hard to get over as I had so much expectation..

-Also if you don't mind my asking., i understand interviewers want honest answers but how honest do we need to be? the questions I had were mostly personal and behavioral, and idk how to "be" a good fit...

If you have the opportunity, ask for some specific feedback to your case. Otherwise, don't overthink it too much. Good candidates get rejected after a superday. It is the reality that there is a lot of competition out there and if someone had a better network with the company or just aced the technicals harder than you did, that someone will be top choice.

For the future, try to network more, as people above also indicated. Also, go even harder on the technicals, get some relevant experience and rock your next interview.

There's a million factors go into supers, including luck. Reach out maybe you can get some feedback. Just remember this is one of the most competitive job markets out there. Don't beat yourself up over it and reflect and try to make improvements for next time.

This sounds like something from a cheesy romcom, but, it's often times about the other candidates, not you. Even if you interview perfectly, other candidates may beat you out because they were business majors, had better connections, answered one question a bit differently, networked more, are the son/daughter of an MD or top client, etc. Sometimes, it's not about you underperforming, but rather that another candidate was simply better in some way that you cannot compete with.
