[Resolved] Received Offer Despite Never Having A Superday?
I just got an offer despite never having a superday. This is for a full time role. I had a phone screen with HR then never heard back. Super confused. Has anyone ever ran into this? I promise I'm not nepo. Of course I'll wait it out, but getting antsy so I had to post in the meantime.
UPDATE: The HR person sent the offer letter to the wrong person (me). I have the same name as the person getting the offer. It's for a different role. Allegedly. Could still be a scam. Thank you everyone for the assistance.
This is one of those gift horse meets mouth moment . Sign them papers (assuming you want the job), then show up with executed contract.
Is it a known reputable company? Typically when a firm pushes you through recruitment it's one of two reasons (1) their top candidate unexpectedly pulled out, perhaps even reneged their offer. (2) It's a scam and they're pushing you through to collect personal details and put up fees.
I'd be cautiously optimistic.
It's (allegedly) from a large bank. That's my fear is that it's a scam. They want me to click a link to create an account, etc. to view the offer letter... I haven't clicked anything yet and will never pay for anything. Just weary on the whole thing. Appreciate the input.
does the email come from a company address? did someone from the team call you to say you got an offer?
The address looks legit. I didn't get a phone call and Workday shows "no longer under consideration." I checked on LinkedIn and the HR person does exist on LinkedIn.
But they said in the email "Hi ___, I will be assisting you with your offer letter. It has come to my attention that you are not able to view the offer letter in Workday. Please reply back to this email with your approval to receive your offer letter by email Once I have your approval, I will send you the next steps. The following email is going to be protected as well, please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you, ____"
Having to create an account to view an offer letter is highly unorthodox. As is not being able to view details directly within Workday.
In this instance, you would need third party validation to ensure the employee works at the firm by speaking to or reaching out to their general HR or reception for the office. You'd want to do this very politically. "Hey (x), I'm looking to speak to (HR person) as I've had previous conversations regarding the (position)." You could also anonymously submit a request to gather information as many large firms have some mechanism designed to check against fraud.
The interaction sounds suspicious and LinkedIn does not have any verification standard. Your best or only bet is to reach out to someone at the firm to verify the details and credentials. My intuition is telling me to be cautious or walk away. No reputable bank will make a blind offer without a discussion with the hiring manager and some element of a technical interview.
Even for my internships, it was a discussion directly with the hiring manager or with HR and then the hiring manager. So not speaking to your supposed boss is a red flag.
