Recent graduate with a unique problem.... PLEASE HELP

To Whom It May Concern:

I am going to keep this short, sweet, and to the point. I have just been offered an opportunity to interview at a midsize bank (think Morgan Keegan, Jefferies, etc..), and it is the opportunity of a lifetime because I am interviewing with the MD who is looking to hire, before he even considers interviewing anybody else. Basically it's my job to lose as long as I don't fuck up, which I am not worried about.

But, the catch is that on my resume I wrote that I graduated in May 2011, when in actuality I am 1.5 credits shy of receiving my degree. Although I am currently in progress with this last class, I will not TECHNICALLY receive my degree until the end of the school semester December 2011. The class I am taking meets once a week on Sunday's, and will not affect my GPA in the slightest, nor will it take away from my commitment or my availability to my job.

The bottom line is I need this job, and I'm not waiting until they do the background check to somehow scam my way out of this. And, the dean of my school said he will give me a "certificate of significant completion" to any recruiter, and said that should be sufficient. (Oh, if only we lived in such a great world, where on the application they say they want a degree, and a letter from a DEan would be enough).

Look I'm meeting with the MD next week, and have no clue how to approach this and try to somehow remedy the situation. I have no clue if I explain to him everything I have just explained to you, how he will handle it. Or if I can go through the process, and when the run the background check that this letter will be enough. SO I ask anybody who reads this and has knowledge of how to properly approach this situation in a manner that will allow me to land the opportunity of a lifetime. PLEASE HELP!!!!!
