Recruiters email me... I respond... they ghost me. Why???

As the title says... I'm getting hit up every day by headhunters for analyst opportunities. For example, got one the other day:

"Hi [my name],
I hope you are well. I wanted to check- I understand there were layoffs at [small MM boutique] and I wanted to check in to see if you were affected (or could cc me with anyone who was? I have 5-10 firms hiring and would be happy to discuss opportunities.

Look forward to hearing."

Indeed, I was laid off from this firm, and responded as such and sent my resume. No response from the headhunter... I followed up a few days later, still nothing. This has been happening nonstop. Why do they email me if they don't respond when I say I'm interested? So confused.

If there are any headhunters here, or generally anyone with perspective on this, pls explain. Thanks!
