Return offer

Im doing a SA role at an Investment bank and I really want to get a return offer just like anybody else would. Ive been doing everything that my analysts/associates are giving and probably doing fine on that end. However, the only thing is that I dont drink which makes me feel weird at times in socials with my company. I usually go with a non-alocohic drink or like a club soda. I do talk/engagae with everyone at the firm dueing these socials but if I dont drink on these socials, will my coworkers judge and possibly wffect my return offer?

I just get worried on this and think if it will effect my return offer chances. I have no problems if other people drink but I dont drink and I dont know if people would judge me on this

Yes, I usually have like a club soda or a lemonade type of a drink whenever we have a social. Dont have a problem engaging with people. Its really just the drinking aspect but I hope that will not come in my way

I don't drink, and I hate being at bars. During my SA, they had plenty of social events in bars and similar places. I seldom showed up, and when I did, I made a quick round to speak to the important people and then left. Nobody even realized I didn't drink, and nobody cared. I received the return offer. While your work is a big metric in judging if you will get a return offer, there is also a social element. To get over the fact that I didn't like going to bars, I would meet up with the senior team individually throughout my internship. This way, I was able to build closer relationships with them rather than speaking to them when they were drunk. With juniors, you are social with them the whole workday and during lunch, so there is no need to be social with them at a bar. People also respect boundaries. As long as you're not difficult to talk to and perform well, people will respect your boundaries.

Can I say that no one really cares if you drink or not?

What matters more is if you make your analyst/associate's life more of a pain than it usually is.

Sure, drinking with an analyst and knocking a few back can help you bond, but I can guarantee they would rather have a sober, relatively competent intern than the social butterfly,.

Yes I’ve never seen someone loose a return offer from not drinking, but I have seen people loose the offer from over drinking and doing something stupid
