Rising 8th grader advice?

Hello guys, I’m a current rising 7th grader and my dad is an MD at Morgan Stanley. I currently go to private school at a school like Philips Andover. I am already studying for the SAT and plan to get a good score so I can go to a school like Harvard. I was wondering if any high schoolers or college people had any advice to get ahead of my friends since I really want to be an investment banker. I am struggling to understand most of the technical words and language you guys use here, so any advice as to how to decipher that would be great.

Also, if anyone tells me to go kiss a girl or touch grass, please f off. I’m not even a virgin, so yeah.

Do what everyone else does, google, watch youtube, take courses such as CFI.

Not sure how the educational system works in the US, but I found it really hard to gain a deeper understanding of IB-stuff (valuation etc) until university where I learnt accounting, that made everything fall into place and really accelerated my learning to the degree where I managed to land 2 internships 6 months into my studies. So in your position I would just work on financial literacy really, read a lot, stay curious about events in the world, take courses and be OK with not understanding everything. This will help you gain a great advantage when everything falls into place.

Start networking. Your middle school email paired with you being at a semi-target for top high schools like STUY/EXETER should have a 100% hit rate when cold emailing analysts & associates at BBs and EBs. Almost every banker will get on the phone with you to not feel like an asshole for ignoring a 7th grader. Make sure you have a compelling reason for why you're interested in their bank/group. Absolutely mention that your dad is an MD at MS. If you have any other family members in MF PE or VP/MD at top banks, make sure to mention that too. If you are targeting EB RX groups (which you should be), make sure you have your technicals down 100%. Middle school coursework is a breeze so it shouldn't be hard to have the 400qs down by the time you're in 8th grade and be able to crank out an LBO from scratch by the time you graduate from 8th grade. For the SAT, study until you hit 1550+ and then ED to Wharton. If not, shoot for HYPSM. Best of luck to you.

Great advice, having a good experience at a mid-tier RX shop but I was late to the game starting in 12th grade. If you start now, agree you should target top EB RX. This summer start to read Moyer, Petition 11 and I would check reorg daily. The content might be hard at first but maybe you will be able to get an offer in 6/7 years
