Rothschild vs JP Morgan Spring Weeks

Hello everyone. I am trying to decide between J.P. Morgan (IBD and Risk) and Rothschild (GFA) spring week offers (London). The problem arises in the fact that JPM and Rothschild clash. At the time of applying both of these firms were at the top of my list of preferences. Here is why:

Rothschild: On the one hand, I am drawn to Rothschild because of its smaller size, collegiate culture, smaller teams with good exposure and rich historical heritage, which I foresee may add value to my experience there. A more tangible advantage is the fact that Rothschild hires on a permanent basis, rather than a 2 year basis, which will add security and would probably mean that it invests more in each employee. On the whole, the firm has a degree of pedigree and exclusivity that is hard to find elsewhere.

J.P. Morgan, on the other hand, is a true giant and a market leader. This is an almost verbatim response that I was given by many of my peers, with many deeming the dilemma as 'a no brainer' and 'not serious', including people who one would assume would have thought otherwise. The sheer size and scope of the firm might bring along with it significant opportunities for international mobility and learning. Another commonly cited advantage is its strong brand name by virtue of consistently being top of or near the top of the tables, although in my opinion I do not really see how a bank with a 200 year old history of being one of the most powerful institutions in the world (Rothschild) has a brand that is in anyway deficient for those in the know.

My ambitions are to maximise my chances of gaining a top summer internship in the following year, gaining the most skills/industry knowledge, ending up in a firm that I actually like working for and am able to continue doing so should I decide to stay in IB, and setting myself up for exit-opportunities should I decide that I do not wish to continue after working there for several years.

I would appreciate any and all advice, given that I have had no prior industry experience of my own.

I thank you all in advance.
