Sales and Trading to IB

I am an analyst in sales and trading, and have found that many of the jobs I want to do after my stint on the sell-side all require IB experience. As such, I am considering a move to IB. I know that I'll be coming in as probably a 1st year analyst, which I am fine with. However, what's the best way to network for these roles? I assume most will be filled by returning interns. If so, what types of firms should I be looking at? I don't want to "trade down" too much (i.e., go from a BB to a no name boutique), since I feel like that would be giving up a lot of opportunities. Thanks in advance for any advice.
