I currently finished my freshman year at a small liberal arts school in Pennsylvania. I am looking to transfer. I am good student (4.0 gpa, ec etc). Above average high school stats (not crazy). What are realistic semi target schools to crack into NY IB? and is transferring my junior year worth it? Thanks!

Ya I'm just not sure I could get into any target schools. Looking at Vandy, UVA, Boston College.
4.0 goes a very long way for transferring. If you have SAT scores within normal range of a school (even closer to 25th percentile is fine, still in middle 50%), you’ll be competitive.
maybe try NESCACs, they all recruit pretty well. Some Ivies have high transfer acceptance rates (Cornell). It will be very hard to transfer directly into an undergrad business school (Stern, Wharton, McCombs, Haas, Ross) because they take mostly internal transfers, so shoot for schools that don’t have a separate business school.

suggestions: Cornell, NESCACs, UVA (if getting into McIntrye is reasonable), UNC (getting in to K-F as a transfer is very doable you just need to do it your second semester), Fordham (if business school transfer is possible), Vandy, BC, even Tulane
OP can 100% get into a better school than Fordham. Transferring with a near perfect GPA to a USC, Vandy, Gtown is extremely feasible.
Totally agree, I have an average SAT, definitely below average for the schools listed above. I know with COVID schools like BC and UVA and making test scores optional for transfers for the fall of 22. Without submitting SAT do you think that would hurt me? And if anyone has any input on weather transferring junior year will hurt recruiting opportunities.
Try Vanderbilt, they're pretty transfer friendly and love a good story, very holistic. I'd be cautious of the top public schools like UNC, UVA, UMich, etc because getting into their business programs is an entirely different process and you'll be 'against' people who have been there since the first year and have all the pre-reqs to enter the business program. You sound smart obviously but I was in your shoes a year ago and doing economics/stats at one of the schools above would've been a disaster for me so I turned it down. Take a look at Cornell, Emory, GTown as well, private schools do a good job of helping transfer students since in-state and out of state isn't a factor.
Completely agree with the above comment. I didn’t pursue UNC/UVA/UMich because it’s not a lock to get into the bus school. I think KF at UNC is easier than the other two. If I remember, Ross at UMich is pretty impossible as a transfer.
Any thoughts on Rutgers? I live in NJ and in state tuition is deceiving.
